Temporary uneven distribution of power in Tihange 1 reactor core
On 27 April 2025, a temporary anomaly in the distribution of power within the reactor core was detected during start-up of the Tihange 1 nuclear reactor. The situation remained out of normal limits for several minutes longer than allowed, but was quickly brought under control. The anomaly was classified as level 1 on the INES scale: a minor technical error with no impact on humans or the environment.
